ANALISIS WACANA KRITIS FAIRCLOUGH PADA PEMBERITAAN ANGGARAN SEPATU SEKOLAH RAKYAT
Abstract
This research examines news content surrounding the controversy over the procurement budget for footwear intended for the People's School program, employing Norman Fairclough's framework of critical discourse analysis. The study draws upon two online news articles, one from CNN Indonesia and another from Tempo.co, as primary data sources. The analytical process unfolds across three interconnected dimensions: the textual dimension (microstructural), the dimension of discursive practice (mesostructural), and the dimension of social practice (macrostructural). Findings at the textual level reveal that news coverage predominantly framed official government statements as rational clarifications, while simultaneously working to preserve the government's public image through issue redirection. At the discursive practice level, both media outlets relied almost exclusively on senior government officials as authoritative sources of information, thereby marginalizing independent or critical evaluation of budget reasonableness. At the social practice level, this discourse exposes underlying power dynamics in which the government exercises unilateral authority to define what constitutes “people's quality standards,” while perpetuating bureaucratic systems that often operate with limited public transparency.
